A Marathon in Micro Masking

This Sovereign Replicas Enterprise 1701E is a big piece of kit 40" long (that’s over 1 meter in new money), so when we heard that Ian was planning to mask the many meters of pin line markings using our 0.5mm micro masking tape we had to see how he would get on.

The patience of a saint? Or just a little mad? We weren’t sure but as you can see from these pictures he stuck with it and achieved a stunning result. Proving again that patience, skill and a clear idea of the result your hoping to achieve really pays off.

Here at Jammydog we pride ourselves on producing a quality product and one which is a very versatile tool for a whole range of scale model building application. However, as with all tools, its only as good as the craftsmen (and Women) who use it.

With this project Ian has really raised the bar high, if you think that you have a project which challenges Ian’s position as top Jammydog Taper then you better let us know…and we can send the Doctors straight round!

With Thanks to Ian at www.ianlawrencemodels.com formerly Raytheonmodels.com for letting us use the pictures of his masking marathon.

Ian's full diary of the Enterprise build can be seen here.

The Enterprise 1701E is available from Sovereign Replicas, if you dare!
